In 2012, California passed the Proposition 39 ballot initiative which would allocate money for school districts to upgrade their facilities for energy savings over a period of 5 years.  Design West worked closely with Redlands Unified School District on their Prop 39 Program.

Design West ran ASHRAE Level 2 energy audits for every campus, set priority needs and benchmarks for the needs at each campus, established a 5 year modernization program, helped the district apply for initial approval and Prop 39 state funding.

Following the State submission of the plan, Design West has modernized HVAC and Electrical systems at 5 campuses including Cope Middle School, Bryn Mawr Elementary, Mariposa Elementary, Victoria Elementary, Arroyo Verde Elementary.  Additionally, Design West has provided lighting upgrades to Redlands High School.
