fEaTuRED pRojEcT : INNovaTIoNS foR GENERaTIoNS To comE pRojEcT Coachella Valley Middle School/High School : Indio, CA New construction of a $110 million, 340,000 sq. ft., 7-12 school campus cLIENTS Coachella Valley Unified School District : WlC Architects chaLLENGE Design a school facility that attains every feasible CHPS point in California's low desert climate conditions. TaILoRED SoLuTIoN The team integrated the design process using Building Information Modeling (BIM) in Autodesk's RevitŪ platform. Design West designed all 3 MEP disciplines in the model through Construction Documentation. To maximize the buildings energy efficiency, Design West incorporated IES Virtual Environment software to provide the most technologically sophisticated green solutions possible. pRojEcT aDDED vaLuE The team was able to accurately predict day lighting trends and heat flow patterns by using IES Virtual Environment. This maximized the CHPS contribution and optimized energy conservation throughout the campus at a level that could not be obtained by conventional design calculation methods. |
