The team addressed the challenges by integrating the design process through Building Information Modeling (BIM) using Autodesk's RevitŪ platform. Design West worked closely with the theme artists to create an extensively thematic lighting package to best highlight the exhibit aquarium. The mechanical systems, electric utilities, and low-voltage systems were coordinated with the aquarium equipment and decorative features.

Design West flexibly and promptly accommodated all the various design and budget changes that occurred during the design phase. Despite all potential causes for complication, the mechanical designs did not receive a single Request For Information (RFI) throughout construction. Autodesk awarded the BIM Experience award to Design West for this project.
